PE
At Ashby Hill Top Primary School we inspire the children to be active and encourage them to develop an interest in physical activity and have a positive outlook with regards to participation in sport. We aim to deliver a high quality physical education curriculum that caters for all of the individuals within the school by delivering a wide range of engaging lessons, offering competitive opportunities and visits from external bodies. By doing this it allows us to build character and embed values such as fairness and respect across the key stages. We are passionate about educating children how to cooperate with others in a team as well as an individual.
Through the provision or high quality lessons and opportunities our curriculum aims to inspire all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. It provides opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. We follow the National Curriculum. Children participate in two high quality PE lessons a week. There are also various sporting clubs available to the children after school, at lunchtimes and during Golden Time that they can engage in to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills further in addition to competitive sporting events. We deliver an inclusive programme within our school to not only focus on physical education but to support the wellbeing of our pupils.
