Happy LunchtimesThe Happy Lunchtimes initiative gives pupils and staff a clear structure to focus on positive play and positive behaviour management during lunchtimes. It enthuses everyone and leads to improvements big and small.
Children like the initiative because it provides a wider range of activities at lunchtimes with something for every different ‘play-type.’ It also creates a calmer and more consistent approach to discipline, and has ‘something for everyone.’ At lunchtimes we now have a zoned area with a new activity every day. This runs alongside football, ball games, and the toys that are always available. There are clear rewards for good choices and improved behaviour, pom-poms add to our school merit system, special certificate in assembly and a half termly Top Table, when lunchtime supervisors nominate one child from each year group (and a friend) to eat at the top table known as the Golden Table, in the hall. Alongside this there are clear consequences if children make the wrong choices at lunchtime. Our lunchtime team!Carole Watts- Play Leader
