Modern Foreign Languages- French 

At Ashby Hill Top, a child’s learning journey should include exposure to the wider world and our MFL programme aims to provide that through both language and cultural experiences. Our MFL programme includes language investigation, cultural awareness and a progression in our chosen language of French. We have opted to have French as our chosen language to allow for children to progress as they move into KS3, as it is the language taught in the follow-on schools within our area.
 
Our aim is to develop a love of languages whilst embedding essential skills of listening, reading, speaking and writing. Cross-curricular links will be made, giving greater purpose to the children’s learning.
 
MFL is more than just French words in isolation. The aim is to include exposure to other languages (sharing their heritage languages) and to celebrate other cultures throughout the year whilst developing progression and enjoyment of French itself.
